Ellensburg Food Co-op Memberships

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Am I eligible to become a member?

Individuals living in Washington State may apply for membership in the Ellensburg Food Cooperative.

Everyone residing at the same address will also be covered by the membership, although only one person will be the primary member. The primary member holds ownership and can vote on Co-op issues.

How much does it cost to become a member?

A lifetime membership in the Co-op requires an equity investment currently set at $100.00. As a member, you are actually an owner of the Co-op with full voting rights in Co-op elections, the right to run for election to the Board of Directors, and other benefits as outlined in the Co-op bylaws.

How do I become a member?

You may join the Ellensburg Food Co-op by either

  • Completing the online registration form, or
  • Printing out and completing the membership application [PDF] and dropping it off at Brick Road Books, 305 N. Main Street, Ellensburg or mailing it to Ellensburg Food Co-op, P.O. Box 1492, Ellensburg, WA 98926, or
  • Dropping by our booth at the Ellensburg Farmers' Market and talking with one of our volunteers

Where do I send my membership payment?

  • Online through PayPal using a credit card
  • By check sent to Ellensburg Food Co-op, P.O. Box 1492, Ellensburg, WA 98926

May I pay for my membership in monthly installments?

Yes, you may elect to pay $10.00 per month for up to 10 months (total of $100.00). Monthly payments may be made

  • Online through PayPal using a credit card
  • By check sent to Ellensburg Food Co-op, P.O. Box 1492, Ellensburg, WA 98926

Is there a family membership?

There is not a family membership option that works differently from an individual membership.  Families or multiple individuals living at the same address can join the co-op under one membership. Since each membership equals one vote, the family or household would effectively be splitting the benefits of an individual membership; the whole family or household would be entitled to one vote.

Can I cancel may membership if I move away or want to leave the Co-op?

Members wishing to terminate their Co-op membership for whatever reason can do so through written notice. A member's equity investment is fully refundable after termination, though the timing of the payment is dependent on the level of reserve funds.

Do I need to be a member to shop online?

No, everyone may shop through the Ellensburg Food Co-op Online Market. All online shoppers must register for an online account (which provides you with an unique username and password).

Non Co-op members will be charged a $5.00 handling fee per order; Co-op members will have the $5.00 handling fee waived as one of the benefits of membership.
